Thigh Lift

Excess fat and loose skin on the thighs can be addressed with a thigh lift at the Greenwich Plastic Surgery Center. This body-contouring plastic surgery procedure can make sagging thighs look much more defined and sculpted.

What Is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that involves trimming away excess skin hanging from the thighs and removing pockets of stubborn excess fat. This enhances the contours and proportions of the thighs for a more toned appearance.

Conventional exercise routines and diets are unable to address excess skin, and stubborn fat is often resistant to these methods. A thigh lift is a more effective method of achieving the sculpting results that you have been searching for.

Benefits of a Thigh Lift

A thigh lift can offer numerous cosmetic and health benefits:

  • Improved thigh definition and tone
  • Lowered risk of rashes on the undersurface of thighs
  • Lowered risk of skin infections
  • Removal of cellulite on the thighs (in certain cases)
  • Removal of stretch marks (in certain cases)

Good Candidates for a Thigh Lift

Many people who want to get rid of sagging skin and excess fat on their thighs may be ideal candidates for a thigh lift. Patients who have experienced dramatic weight loss and now have hanging skin on their thighs are excellent candidates.

Being in good health is vital, since this reduces the chance of complications. Patients must maintain realistic expectations in terms of results.

Smokers are not ideal candidates for thighplasty surgery. If you are a smoker, you must quit weeks before undergoing this procedure in order to avoid potential complications. You must also avoid smoking during the recovery process.

Your Consultation

Before a thigh lift can be scheduled, patients will need to come in for a consultation. During this consultation, the patient will discuss their aesthetic goals with Dr. Raskin. She will perform a physical examination, and photographs may be taken as a reference.

Patients will be asked questions about their general health and their complete medical history. This will include any medications and/or supplements that they are taking, any allergies, any pre-existing conditions, and any past procedures.

The finer details of the procedure, such as preparation, cost, and recovery, will be explained during the visit so that patients can be as informed as possible. The consultation also provides patients with opportunities to ask questions about the procedure, as well as bring up any concerns that they may have.

The Thigh Lift Procedure

The thigh lift procedure usually takes around two to three hours, though this varies depending on the exact details of each patient’s operation.

The first step is the application of anesthesia to ensure a comfortable and pain-free procedure. In some cases, general anesthesia is used, while in others, a combination of sedation and local anesthesia is best. The type of anesthesia used will be decided during the consultation.

Once the selected anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Raskin will create incisions. The pattern and location of these will vary based on the type of thighplasty being performed. Medial thigh lift, or inner thigh lift, incisions are created in the groin area and reach around to the back of the thigh or down towards the knee. Outer thigh lift, or bilateral thigh lift, incisions stretch around the hip to the lower back.

Next, Dr. Raskin will remove excess sagging skin using a scalpel. Excess fat will be removed using liposuction. During this process, a cannula (a thin tube with a sharp end) will be inserted, and medical suction will be used to remove the fatty tissue through the cannula. Internal sutures may also be used to tighten the underlying tissues of the thighs.

The remaining skin will be stretched over the thighs, and the incisions will be closed with sutures. A surgical dressing will be used to cover the closed incisions, and drains may be placed to carry out excess fluids.

Thigh Lift Recovery

The recovery period following the thigh lift will require a fair amount of rest. You will need to take time off from work. You must avoid physically strenuous activities like heavy exercise and sports for four to six weeks or until cleared to resume them by Dr. Raskin.

There will be some bruising, swelling, and minor discomfort involved. Pain medication will be prescribed, as will antibiotics. Wearing elastic post-surgical garments for three to four weeks helps to control swelling, as does the application of cold compresses. Some light exercise can also help speed up recovery and help to prevent blood clots from forming.

You will need to come in for a follow-up appointment one to two weeks after the thighplasty procedure so that Dr. Raskin can check on the progress of the healing process. This will also allow her to remove stitches and ensure that there are no post-surgical complications.

Once all swelling has completely ameliorated and recovery is complete, you will be able to see your final results. After a thigh lift, thighs are firmer, better defined, and well contoured. Though post-surgical marks will be present, they will be camouflaged in the natural contours of the body, and they will be easily hidden by a swimsuit.

How Much Does a Thigh Lift Cost?

There are a few factors that can affect the cost of a thigh lift. Among these include the time needed to perform the surgery, the exact techniques utilized, and anesthesia fees. Price can be discussed during the consultation.
